KatadataOTO – The launch of the Xpeng X9 is just a matter of time. The electric car will be marketed to consumers in Indonesia.

In the initial stage, the electric vehicle (EV) will still be a completely built-up (CBU) unit from China.

However, the manufacturer from the Land of the Bamboo Curtain already intends to assemble the Xpeng X9 locally. They will utilize the facilities of Handal Indonesia Motor (HIM).

“Currently, it is still a CBU (completely built-up) import from China. However, it will later be assembled at the Handal factory in Purwakarta,” said Hari Arifianto, VP of Marketing for Xpeng Indonesia in the PIK 2 area, Tangerang, Banten, on Tuesday (03/06).

Hari stated that the assembly of the Xpeng X9 in Purwakarta will be carried out in the near future.

It will likely start in August 2025. By doing so, they can increase the domestic component level (TKDN) of the Xpeng X9.

This is because Xpeng intends to register their electric four-wheeled vehicles to be eligible for electric car incentives from President Prabowo Subianto.

“So for those who are able to assemble domestically and commit to 40 percent local content (will receive subsidies),” Hari continued.

Nevertheless, Hari assured that the price of the Xpeng X9 to be assembled in Purwakarta will not change.

This is done to be considerate of the first batch of Xpeng X9 consumers who received CBU units from China.

“The hope is that we can maintain the same price. So that later in the market there is no price difference between the CBU and semi-knocked down (SKD) units,” he revealed.

For your information, the official price announcement for the Xpeng X9 electric car will be made next month in Jakarta.

"The plan is to announce the prices for the Xpeng X9 and G6 on June 19, 2025," said Hari.

He also hopes that both Xpeng electric cars will receive a positive reception from consumers in Indonesia.

Moreover, they will hold an exhibition to display the Xpeng X9 directly to the public.

For the Xpeng X9, the offered price tag ranges from Rp 990 million to Rp 1.09 billion.
