Electric motorcycle incentives are targeted for release this year, pending the Coordinating Meeting. Honda is still awaiting confirmation.
KatadataOTO – The electric motorcycle incentive from the government is said to continue this year. The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) previously revealed that the policy would be ratified in August 2025.
However, until now there has been no definite news about the electric motorcycle incentive. PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM), as one of the manufacturers, admits it is still waiting for the subsidy because it can have a good impact on sales.
“We will definitely support it if there is an incentive. It's good for consumers,” said Octavianus Dwi Putro, Marketing Director of PT AHM, when met in Jakarta some time ago.
It should be noted that in the absence of the electric motorcycle incentive, Honda had offered massive discounts for the CUV e: and EM1 e:.
The price cut was implemented throughout the Jakarta Fair 2025 event and yielded positive results.
“But whether there is (an electric motorcycle incentive) or not, we will strive to ensure Honda remains present and contributes,” said Octavianus.
He emphasized that his party is focused on continuously introducing and providing the experience of riding a Honda electric motorcycle to consumers, for example, through test ride programs.
Although reluctant to reveal exact figures, Octavianus disclosed that Honda's electric motorcycle sales are quite positive.
“Over 1,000 (units),” said Octavianus.
A representative from the Ministry of Industry confirmed that the electric motorcycle incentive is still awaiting a Limited Coordination Meeting (Rakortas) with related ministries, including the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs.
The exact date is not yet known, but the Ministry of Industry is targeting the electric motorcycle incentive to be issued this year.
“What we are waiting for is a directive from the President or through the Limited Coordination Meeting regarding the type of battery content to be prepared and also the duration of the incentive,” said Setia Diarta, Director General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment, and Electronics (Dirjen ILMATE) of the Ministry of Industry, as quoted from Antara on Saturday (16/08).
Speaking of the subsidy amount, the figure will be in the range of Rp 5 million to Rp 7 million.
“This will follow the directive of the Limited Coordination Meeting and the capacity of the Directorate General of Budget (DJA) of the Ministry of Finance,” Setia affirmed.
Besides preparing the incentive, data alignment with the Department of Population and Civil Registration (Dukcapil) of the Ministry of Home Affairs will also be ensured first.
So that the provision of the electric motorcycle incentive can run smoothly and be enjoyed by the public.
