KatadataOTONew motorcycle sales seem to be performing positively. As is being felt by AHM (Astra Honda Motor).

The Japanese brand predicts that their new motorcycle sales in the first quarter of 2025 will experience growth, compared to 2024.

“Up to the first quarter, we predict there will still be a slight growth. By my calculation, it could be 1.5 percent to 2 percent compared to the same period last year,” said Octavianus Dwi Putro, Marketing Director of AHM in Sunter, North Jakarta some time ago.

According to Octa, from January to March 2024, the manufacturer with the flapping wing logo has recorded 1.1 million to 1.6 million units.

Now, for this year, a slight increase is predicted. Especially since in March 2025 there is the momentum of Eid al-Fitr 1446 H.

This makes people want to own a new two-wheeled vehicle. Thus, the demand for new motorcycles soars.

“As is always the trend, there is an increase leading up to Eid. Compared to the previous month, it (increases) by 15 percent to 20 percent,” continued Octa.

Previously, Octa explained that from January to February 2025, Honda has recorded 850 thousand to 860 thousand two-wheeled vehicles.

He also admitted to being happy with what has been achieved. Considering the economic conditions in Indonesia are not doing well.

“Although the increase is slightly below what we predicted. But in total, the first quarter will be higher than the same period last year,” Octa affirmed.

New Motorcycle Sales Surpass One Million Units

Previously, AISI (Indonesian Motorcycle Industry Association) had recorded 1,141,578 units sent from the factory to dealers, or what is commonly called wholesales.

The above number was achieved in the first two months of 2025. With details of 560,301 units in January, a slight slowdown of 5.4 percent when compared to the same period in 2024.

Meanwhile, February 2025 reached 581,277 motorcycles. An increase of 4.04 percent compared to February 2024.

AISI also revealed there are a number of factors why the two-wheeled vehicle market became active again in the second month of 2025.

"First, motorcycles are currently perceived by consumers as an affordable means of transportation," said Sigit Kumala, Head of the Commercial Division of AISI to KatadataOTO on a separate occasion.

Then there are several stimuli that encourage people to spend their money.

For example, the option of a low down payment or DP (Down Payment). So many people want to buy a new motorcycle.
