KatadataOTO – Recently, news has been circulating that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will implement an ERP (Electronic Road Pricing) system, also known as paid roads.
The issue has spread widely in WhatsApp groups. It was mentioned that this policy will be implemented on 25 roads in Jakarta.
Starting from MT Haryono, Gatot Subroto, Tomang Raya, Kramat Raya, Gajah Mada to Kyai Caringin. Later, drivers passing through these areas will be charged a fee of Rp 5,000 to Rp 19,000.
Hearing this, the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) has spoken out. According to them, the news about the ERP implementation is not true.
"The information above is a Hoax with a misleading content type," wrote the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency on their Instagram account, Thursday (08/05).
According to them, the policy of implementing ERP on 25 roads in Jakarta has not been carried out at all so far.
This is because there are a number of factors to consider. Therefore, the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency is focusing on other things first.
"The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is currently focusing on efforts to improve mass public transportation facilities and infrastructure," they continued.
They still want to focus on developing Transjakarta, MRT, LRT, and other public transportation policies at this time.
That way, people in Jakarta can comfortably use public transportation, especially for daily activities.
For your information, the implementation of ERP on Jakarta's streets has actually been circulating since two years ago.
This policy is known to be in the draft of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Regional Regulation concerning Electronic Traffic Control.
It was mentioned that the regulation was made for several purposes. For example, the implementation of ERP is expected to make traffic more controllable by limiting motor vehicles and certain vehicles using electric propulsion.
Furthermore, through the implementation of this Regional Regulation, it is also hoped that road traffic will be smoother in the future.
Meanwhile, other objectives are to encourage people to switch to using public transport, and to create transportation that supports a sustainable quality of the environment.
Then, the progressive transfer of the burden, benefits, and congestion cost tariffs from private vehicle users to public transport and urban infrastructure.
On the other hand, not all roads in Jakarta will be paid. This is because there are several special criteria that must be met.
