KatadataOTO – The Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement system, or commonly known as ETLE ticketing, is proving to be effective. This is evident from the large number of violations successfully recorded.

From January to September 2025, they successfully recorded at least 8,335,692 traffic violations.

From these recordings, officers will conduct another check to validate the violation. The next process is the confirmation stage, where a ticket is sent to the vehicle owner.

“Validated violations have reached 2,297,887, while confirmations stand at 480,844 cases,” said Inspector General of Police Drs. Agus Suryonugroho, S.H., M.Hum., Head of the National Police Traffic Corps, in his official statement.

He revealed that the large number of violations recorded and successfully processed is the result of recent major revitalization efforts, allowing the process to run more optimally.

“This technology is not just a ticketing tool, but a means to build awareness and a culture of orderly traffic. With ETLE, we are here not to scare the public, but to protect and educate,” he added.

He also revealed that the implementation of ETLE has had a positive impact, as the public can see that the institution has become more transparent than before.

“The entire enforcement process is recorded digitally and can be verified, thus closing the door on field irregularities,” he said.

Not only that, law enforcement is also more efficient because officers can act on more violations without stopping vehicles. The public is also more cautious due to the deterrent effect, leading to more disciplined driving.

Types of Violations Targeted by ETLE

  • Violating road markings and traffic signs
  • Not wearing a seatbelt while driving
  • Using a smartphone while driving
  • Exceeding the maximum speed limit
  • Motor vehicles using fake license plates
  • Running a red light
  • Driving against the flow of traffic
  • Riding a motorcycle without a helmet,
  • Carrying more than two passengers on a motorcycle,
  • Motorcycle not turning on its headlight during the day

To make it easier for the public to find out if their vehicle has received an electronic ticket, the police have provided a special website to check. This way, you no longer need to go to the police station just to confirm the status of your car or motorcycle.

  • Go to the website https://etle-pmj.id/
  • Enter the vehicle's license plate number, chassis number, and engine number in the provided fields.
  • Once filled in, select ‘Check Data’
  • If there are no violations, the message ‘No Data Available’ will appear
  • However, if a violation is found, records of the time, location, violation status, and vehicle type will be displayed.
