KatadataOTO – The peak of the return traffic for Lebaran 2025 is predicted to continue until Monday (07/04). Drivers are advised to adjust their departure times.
This is because there are several hours that are popular for people to return home from their hometowns, which has the potential to cause traffic congestion.
PT JTT (Jasamarga Transjawa) noted that the highest number of toll road users passing through the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate (GT) is between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM WIB (Western Indonesia Time).
“We can see that the movement of road users is high when they reach Cikampek Utama in the afternoon,” said Ria Marlinda Paallo, Vice President Corporate Secretary & Legal of PT JTT, as reported by Antara on Sunday (06/07).
According to Ria, this is due to several factors, such as people engaging in tourism activities first in the Central Java and East Java regions.
Therefore, they only start their journey in the afternoon. So, many four-wheeled vehicles pass through Cikampek Utama in the evening.
“It could be that those coming from the direction of Kalikangkung or Semarang check out from their tourism activities around 1:00 PM WIB,” Ria continued.
To anticipate congestion, JTT has also made various preparations, for example, operating five additional booths at the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate towards Jakarta.
“Later, if there is a queue leading to the Cikampek Utama gate, we will activate up to 36 transaction points and add 17 MR (Mobile Readers),” Ria affirmed.
For your information, Jasa Marga recorded that 918,540 four-wheeled vehicles have returned to the Jabodetabek area (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi).
The number above was recorded from March 31 to April 4, 2025. It is a cumulative figure of traffic flow from four main toll gates.
Such as the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate (from the Trans-Java direction), Kalihurip Utama Toll Gate, and the Japek II South Functional Toll Gate (from the Bandung direction). It was also contributed by the Cikupa Toll Gate (from the Merak direction) and the Ciawi Toll Gate (from the Puncak, Bogor direction).
The total traffic volume returning to Jabodetabek is also said to have increased by 39.94 percent compared to the normal situation of only 656,385 cars.
Travelers are also encouraged to take advantage of the 20 percent toll rate discount on the Trans-Java Toll Road, which will be reinstated from April 8-10, 2025, at 5:00 AM WIB for continuous travel from the Kalikangkung Toll Gate to the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate.
