Contraflow and one-way systems are implemented when traffic becomes congested.

KatadataOTO – Traffic engineering has indeed been prepared by the police to reduce congestion. However, the contraflow and one-way scenarios will only be implemented if the number of vehicles exceeds a certain limit.

Therefore, the police, together with Jasa Marga, are continuously monitoring congestion on the toll roads to ensure that traffic engineering can be implemented correctly. This is because everything must be ensured so that no members of the public feel disadvantaged.

“If the radar at KM 50 detects 5,500 vehicles, a one-lane contraflow will be implemented. Then, if it reaches 6,400 units for one consecutive hour on the radar at KM 50, we will implement a two-lane contraflow, and up to a third lane at 7,400 units for one consecutive hour,” said Police Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, Head of the National Police Traffic Corps.

The homecoming exodus is already being felt at several points due to the Work From Anywhere (WFA) policy for civil servants. Therefore, various preparations have begun.

“As for when the One Way will be implemented, we and Jasa Marga will look at the latest traffic counts. Then, the timing for the national one-way implementation will be decided,” he added.
