KatadataOTO – Dedi Mulyadi, the Governor of West Java, is giving an Eid 2025 gift to its citizens. Especially for motorcycle and car owners.
Because he has just announced a new policy regarding Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB) in the Bandung, Bogor, Ciawi, and other areas.
"We apologize if the West Java Provincial Government has not provided the best service for its citizens. We also forgive the mistakes of the public who are currently in arrears on their motor vehicle tax," Dedi said on his personal Instagram account, Wednesday (19/03).
Furthermore, Dedi stated that motorcycle and car owners who are financially capable but reluctant to pay taxes should not complain if they find roads in poor condition.
Because they are unwilling to fulfill their obligation as obedient citizens to pay taxes.
Nevertheless, Dedi is providing leniency for drivers. He is waiving all PKB arrears for 2024 and previous years.
"However, after Eid 2025, please renew your vehicle tax," Dedi continued.
He also provided a deadline from April 11 to June 6, 2025, to renew the tax at the new rate for this year, without settling previous years' arrears.
"However, for those who do not pay their taxes within two months after Eid 2025, then untaxed vehicles should not use district and provincial roads," the West Java Governor asserted.
He hopes that with the above leniency, it can stimulate drivers in West Java to settle their PKB arrears.
So that regional revenue in Bandung and other areas can increase. It can then be used to build various facilities.
As a reminder, Dedi Mulyadi previously planned to launch a new rule so that renewing the STNK (Vehicle Registration Certificate) would no longer require the first owner's KTP (ID Card).
“I will create a governor's regulation stating that the one obligated to contact the first owner of the motorcycle, car, and STNK is not the taxpayer," Dedi said on a separate occasion.
The West Java governor stated that the government is the one that must find the first owner of the vehicle.
He claimed to have contacted a staff member of the West Java Bapenda (Regional Revenue Agency) to smooth the way for this plan.
“All the requirements will be the responsibility of the West Java Provincial Government through the Samsat offices in each district and city,” Dedi concluded.
