KatadataOTO – A demonstration took place again in front of the DPR RI Building, Senayan Jakarta on Monday (25/08). A number of people began to crowd the streets at the location.

The police have prepared everything to welcome the demonstrators. Such as deploying 1,250 joint personnel.

"We want to ensure the activity proceeds safely, orderly, and does not disrupt community activities," said Police Commissioner Susatyo Purnomo Condro, Head of the Central Jakarta Metro Police, as quoted by Antara.

Susatyo stated that the security measures were taken to ensure the smooth expression of opinions by the protesters.

The Police and TNI will take a persuasive and humanist approach. They are prohibited from carrying firearms.

The police also urged the demonstrators to maintain order. And not to commit anarchic acts.

For example, burning tires, damaging facilities, or blocking traffic access around the DPR RI Building. So as not to harm other members of the public.

"Please express your opinions, but remain within the corridors of law and order. We are here to ensure everything runs safely and conducively," he continued.

On the other hand, the police asked motorcyclists and car drivers to avoid the road in front of the DPR RI building.

They were also asked to prepare alternative routes. This is to avoid potential traffic jams caused by this demonstration.

"We ask for the public's understanding; mutual safety and comfort are our priority," Susatyo explained.

For your information, the police also installed 1.8-meter-high concrete barricades. Then, the iron fence in front of the DPR RI building was smeared with oil.

It should be noted that today's demo is being widely discussed on social media. The crowd calls itself the 'Indonesian People's Revolution'.

They are demanding the cancellation of the DPR RI allowance increase. They also criticized a number of government policies that are considered not to be in favor of the people.

It is not surprising that the police have prepared everything. This is for the sake of maintaining order and security around the location.
