East Java Holds Vehicle Tax Amnesty for Online Motorcycle Taxi Drivers

KatadataOTO – Vehicle tax amnesty is not only held in Jakarta, West Java, and Banten. A number of other regions are also implementing similar programs.

Most recently, East Java has issued a new policy regarding the exemption of principal local tax arrears for the people in Surabaya and its surroundings.

This program will run for the next several days, starting from July 14 to August 31, 2025.

"This is part of our effort to ease the burden on the community following global economic pressures," said Khofifah Indar Parawansa, Governor of East Java, on the official website of the East Java Regional Revenue Agency, Tuesday (15/07).

Khofifah stated that the motor vehicle tax amnesty is intentionally being held to welcome the 80th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia.

She also hopes that many people will take advantage of the relief they are providing.

"Especially taxpayers who are included in the Targeting for the Acceleration of Extreme Poverty Eradication (P3KE) data," she continued.

The number one person in East Java also revealed that this motor vehicle tax amnesty is specifically for online motorcycle taxi (Ojol) drivers.

"As well as taxpayers (owners) of three-wheeled motorcycles," Khofiifah affirmed.

For your information, the East Java motor vehicle tax amnesty is stipulated in East Java Provincial Regulation Number 8 of 2023 and Governor's Decree Number 100.3.3.1/435/013/2025.

It regulates several matters concerning the motor vehicle tax exemption, here is the summary.

• Exemption from Administrative Sanctions for Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB) and Motor Vehicle Title Transfer Fee (BBNKB)
• Exemption from Progressive Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB)
• Exemption of PKB arrears for 2024 and previous years for two-wheeled motorcycles for taxpayers included in the P3KE data
• Exemption of PKB arrears for 2024 and previous years for two-wheeled motorcycles used for public interest through online transportation applications
• Exemption of PKB arrears for 2024 and previous years for three-wheeled motorcycles.

The technical provisions of the local tax exemption policy are as follows:

• For Taxpayers not yet listed in the P3KE data, they can show ownership of a PKH Card
• Two-wheeled online motorcycle taxi partners registered with 8 applicators, namely Grab, Gojek, inDrive, Maxim, NUJEK, Zendo, ACI and ShopeeFood;
• The amount of Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB) for two-wheeled and three-wheeled vehicles does not exceed Rp500,000,- (excluding opsen)
• The implementation of this policy applies to Taxpayers who make payments at the main Samsat office.
