KatadataOTO – The National Police Traffic Corps has launched a national program titled Indonesia Towards Zero Over Dimension and Overload (ODOL). However, the policy will be implemented in stages so that it is not expected to burden businesses.
These stages are divided into three parts: socialization, warning, and law enforcement. The socialization stage is currently underway, held from June 1 to 30, 2025.
“In this stage, we are not only conveying appeals but also taking a direct approach to drivers, truck owners, and transportation companies. The police are also communicating with various parties to ensure vehicles are used according to regulations,” said Police Senior Commissioner Aries Syahbudin, Head of Operations for the National Police Traffic Corps, in his official statement (09/06).
With this socialization period, it is hoped that owners can adjust so they do not operate non-compliant vehicles. This stage is also an important opportunity to build mutual understanding and maximize active public participation regarding the dangers of ODOL trucks.
After the socialization stage, the Traffic Corps will enter the warning phase from July 1–13. In this stage, vehicles that are still non-compliant will be recorded and given a written warning, including the application of a warning sticker.
Meanwhile, law enforcement will be carried out from July 14–27, in conjunction with the implementation of Compliance Operation 2025.
“All data on vehicles indicated to be in violation will be updated through traffic intelligence mapping and sent to the Ministry of Transportation for supervision during the roadworthiness test (KIR) as well as to the Samsat office during the five-year vehicle registration certificate (STNK) renewal process,” Aries explained.
In the law enforcement stage, enforcement actions will be carried out simultaneously throughout Indonesia through regional operations.
Various methods of supervision and enforcement will be carried out by the police to ensure driving discipline. This includes utilizing Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) and Weight In Motion (WIM).
“This is not just about ticketing but about comprehensive enforcement to make freight transport in Indonesia more orderly and safe. Vehicles that have been acted upon will also continue to be monitored until they are normalized,” Aries asserted.
