KatadataOTO – GIIAS 2025 has successfully attracted the attention of various parties. This is because many new cars were showcased at ICE BSD, Tangerang.
According to the records of the Association of Indonesia Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), during the 11-day exhibition, there were 485,569 visitors recorded.
The figure above is claimed to exceed last year's number. Because at GIIAS 2024, there were only 475,084 people.
Gaikindo highlighted that the number of visitors to GIIAS 2025 was indeed predicted to be higher than the previous year.
Gaikindo even stated that the number of visitors was managed to prevent overcrowding. This was to provide a sense of comfort to all parties during the exhibition at ICE BSD, Tangerang.
However, the increase in the number of visitors to GIIAS 2025 was not matched by transactions or vehicle sales figures.
Although the exact number of transactions there has not been detailed. However, Gaikindo believes that the purchase of four-wheeled and two-wheeled vehicles decreased at GIIAS 2025.
“If I look at it from the transaction side, it seems to have decreased slightly. Indeed, the economic situation (now) is a bit tough,” said Yohannes Nangoi, Chairman of Gaikindo, at ICE BSD, Tangerang some time ago.
It's no wonder that terms like 'group that rarely buys' (Rojali) and also 'group that only asks' (Rohana) became widespread at GIIAS 2025.
Gaikindo also provided an explanation regarding the Rojali and Rohana phenomena suspected to be present during GIIAS 2025.
“No, I wouldn't say that's not (the case). Because our goal is to provide automotive knowledge to visitors,” continued Nangoi.
Nangoi explained that GIIAS 2025 is not an exhibition aimed solely at pursuing sales transactions. This essentially confirms the presence of Rojali, Rohana, and even Rohalus at the event.
The Chairman of Gaikindo stated that GIIAS 2025 is used as a means to present various information. Including the latest technology in vehicles.
“Besides that, (it's about showcasing) the newest vehicles to the automotive-loving community, that's the main point,” Nangoi affirmed.
However, with the high number of visitors and the decline in transactions during GIIAS 2025, it shows that the country's economy is not doing well.
As a result, the public's purchasing power has decreased recently. Of course, the impact is that sales of new two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles have plummeted.
Producers have to bite the bullet and tighten their belts. Then try to boost sales even though the economic situation is difficult.
