KatadataOTO – The automotive exhibition GIIAS Makassar 2025 officially opened on Wednesday (05/11), becoming the closing event of the Gaikindo series held throughout this year.

GIIAS Makassar is held at a new venue, the Summarecon Mutiara Makassar Convention Center (SMMCC). It should be noted that this is the first time GIIAS has been held in Makassar again since 2019.

The Gaikindo exhibition series, which ends in Makassar, is expected to continue the positive results seen in other cities.

“We hope that with the presence of GIIAS Makassar, the automotive industry in the city of Makassar can continue to grow,” said Munafri Arifuddin, Mayor of Makassar, in his official statement, quoted on Friday (07/11).

On the same occasion, Gaikindo stated that Makassar plays an important role in supporting the development of the national automotive industry.

“As the main gateway to Eastern Indonesia, Makassar has an important role in the development of the national automotive sector,” emphasized Anton Kumonty, Daily Chairman and Chairman of Gaikindo's Exhibitions and Conferences.

Makassar ranks sixth, contributing 4.1 percent nationally in terms of vehicle sales for the January-July 2025 period.

This became one of the reasons for the return of GIIAS Makassar, to strengthen the industry towards the end of the year and present innovation to the local community.

At GIIAS Makassar 2025, more than 25 motor vehicle brands will be present to liven up the exhibition, 10 of which are in the passenger vehicle category, such as BAIC, BYD, Chery, and Wuling.

Meanwhile, in the two-wheeled vehicle category, visitors will be presented with 10 brands including Benda, Benelli, Keeway, and Scomadi.
