KatadataOTO – The government plans to give a 20 percent toll rate discount during the 2025 Eid homecoming exodus. This move is expected to help the public reduce expenses when making long-distance journeys.

This policy has actually been frequently implemented during long holidays to attract people to vacation and boost the economy in tourist areas.

“The toll rate discount can reach 20 percent, which is expected to ensure a smooth homecoming exodus process,” said Lodewijk F Paulus, Deputy Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs (Wamenko Polkam).

The toll rate discount is planned to be applied on 12 road sections in the Java and Sumatra regions. In addition, he also explained that a number of new toll roads will be opened to support the existing ones and serve as main routes for the Eid homecoming.

"In total, we will make 89 toll roads functional," he said.

To ensure a safe homecoming journey, the Indonesian National Police (Polri) will deploy 164,278 personnel to guard several vital points during the 2025 Eid exodus and return flows.

“From the National Police Headquarters, there will be 1,165 personnel, then from the Regional Police ranks, more than 90,000 personnel, and from related agencies, more than 70,000," said Inspector General of Police Endi Sutendi, Deputy Chief Assistant (Waastama) to the National Police Chief for Operations.

These thousands of personnel will be deployed to guard several vital objects such as bus terminals, train stations, ports, airports, and several points on the toll roads.

The personnel, Endi continued, are tasked with ensuring that people at crowded central points can carry out their homecoming safely. They will also be deployed to anticipate the peak of the departure and return flows of the 2025 Eid homecoming.

"The peak of the homecoming exodus is estimated to be from March 28, 2025, until the days leading up to Eid on March 30, 2025, then the return flow will be from April 8, 2025, onwards," Endi concluded.

It was previously reported that Eid 2025 is expected to fall on April 1. However, interestingly, the Eid holiday is close to Nyepi Day, plus the collective leave and the weekend.

Therefore, the public will get a long holiday of 11 consecutive days. For that reason, people are advised to manage their homecoming travel schedules more optimally to avoid traffic congestion.
