KatadataOTO – The homecoming traffic flow increased in volume on Friday (28/03) morning. This situation led the police to finally implement various traffic engineering measures on the Trans-Java Toll Road to reduce the resulting congestion.
One of these measures was to extend the 1-lane contraflow policy from KM 47 to KM 70 towards Cikampek on the Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) toll road. This policy is believed to be able to reduce the congestion.
"Previously, a 1-lane contraflow was opened from KM 55 to KM 70 towards Cikampek on the Japek toll road at 23:10 WIB. It was then extended to KM 47 to KM 70 at 00:15 WIB," said Ria Marlinda Paallo, VP. Corporate Secretary and Legal of PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol (JTT).
In addition to the contraflow, the police have also implemented a one-way system from KM 70 of the Japek toll road to KM 263 West Brebes.
It was previously reported that at least 282,994 vehicles were recorded heading east on the Trans-Java toll road through the Cikampek Utama toll gate (GT) from D-10 to D-5 (21-26/03) of the Eid al-Fitr 1446 H / Lebaran 2025 holiday period.
The total volume of vehicles passing through the Cikampek Utama toll gate increased by 72.1 percent compared to the normal traffic of 164,445 units. This situation caused a buildup of cars, thus requiring traffic engineering at various points.
The police have also prepared several toll road sections that will be opened functionally to avoid severe congestion. Thus, it is hoped that travelers will have more route options and reduce the concentration of congestion at any single point.
Furthermore, PT JTT also urges toll road users to anticipate their journey. They also ask travelers to ensure their vehicles are in prime condition and have a sufficient electronic money balance before traveling.
Although there are many traffic engineering measures to speed up the flow of vehicles, drivers are expected to remain cautious while driving. Be sure to rest at designated places like rest areas if you feel tired.
