KatadataOTO – The Denza Z9 GT made a stunning appearance at the IIMS 2025 exhibition. Especially with the various modern features embedded in this EV (Electric Vehicle).
The new product is equipped with the e3 platform. This allows the electric car to perform a compass turn and even a crab walk, or move diagonally.
Of course, this feature was not included without reason. There were several considerations behind this decision.
“Vehicles in China are mostly cars with longer wheelbases than in other countries,” said Narendro Bawono Cahyolaksono, Product Planning Assistant Manager of BYD Motor Indonesia at IIMS 2025 on Wednesday (19/02).
He mentioned that consumers in the Land of the Bamboo Curtain highly prioritize comfort while driving.
So it's no wonder that four-wheeled vehicles there are quite large and wide. Thus, they require features like the compass turn and crab walk.
“It turns out that with a long wheelbase, it's quite difficult (to park). Because the turning radius is large and it's hard to maneuver,” he continued.
Based on the facts above, the Denza Z9 GT was given the e3 platform. Considering this electric car has quite wide dimensions.
It is recorded as having a length of 5,180 mm, a width of 1,990 mm, and a wheelbase of 3,125 mm. Meanwhile, the turning radius of this Shooting Brake style vehicle is 4.62 m.
“So an easy parking system was created, which helps consumers when parallel parking in tight spaces, for example at a mall,” said Narendro.
For your information, the easy parking feature allows the vehicle to enter an empty space in a single movement. So there is no need to maneuver forward or backward.
When this mode is activated, the rear wheels can move and turn in various directions. Thus, the Denza Z9 GT can move sideways.
It should be noted that this Denza electric car is not yet sold to domestic consumers. Because BYD is still conducting various studies.
However, they are not ruling out the possibility of selling the Denza Z9 GT in the future.
“Of course, it's not impossible if there is demand. After there is a comprehensive (study) of the market,” said Luther T. Panjaitan, Head of Public & Government Relations at BYD Motor Indonesia.
For context, in China, the Denza Z9 GT is sold for 334,800 yuan to 414,800 yuan, or around Rp 749.6 million to Rp 928.8 million.
