This step is taken to make it easier for residents to manage the validity period of their SIM. Because the card-shaped driving document will expire five years from the date of issuance.

The public must not be late in renewing their SIM. Because if it is missed by even one day, they must undergo the issuance process at the Satpas office in Daan Mogot, West Jakarta.

The above provision is stated in the National Police Chief Regulation number 5 of 2021, article 4. Furthermore, Law number 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation, article 85 paragraph 2.
