KatadataOTO – To reduce the risk of traffic congestion, PT Jasa Marga is providing a toll rate discount of 10 percent today. The discount applies to those who want to return to Jakarta from the direction of Semarang via the Trans-Java toll road.

With this discount on toll rates, it is hoped that people will be encouraged to return earlier, breaking up the concentration of traffic. This is because the peak return traffic is only expected to occur on the weekend.

“A 10 percent rate discount is being reimplemented by Jasa Marga and other Toll Road Business Entities (BUJT) managing the Trans-Java Toll Road. The discount is valid from January 3, 2025, at 05:00 WIB until January 4, 2025, at 05:00 WIB, or for 24 hours,” said Lisye Octaviana, Corporate Communication and Community Development Group Head of Jasa Marga, as reported by Antara (03/01).

However, the toll rate discount does not apply to those whose electronic money card balance is insufficient or cannot be read. Therefore, toll road users must ensure the condition of their card before traveling.

Jasa Marga will also implement traffic engineering to avoid vehicle build-up, ranging from freight transport restrictions to contraflow.

These efforts are being carried out in collaboration with the police to manage traffic. This is because the return traffic itself is expected to continue until Sunday (05/01) as most people will return to their routines on Monday (06/01).

Therefore, the public is urged to review their travel schedules to avoid getting stuck in traffic jams.

In addition, also pay attention to your physical condition before undertaking a long journey. This is to avoid traffic accidents that could potentially cause fatalities.

“During long holidays, vehicle mobility is quite high. Many drivers are heading out of town, and sometimes the duration of rest is very short, which causes drowsiness,” said Sony Susmana, Training Director of Safety Defensive Consultant Indonesia (SDCI), to KatadataOTO.

He explained that drowsiness can be fatal because it reduces motor sensor performance and focus. As a result, a fatal accident can happen at any time.

Therefore, Sony advises not to delay resting during the journey, especially when the body is already showing signs of fatigue.

“Don't just enter a rest area and drink coffee, but make sure your rest is optimal,” he concluded.
