KatadataOTO – Jasa Marga revealed that vehicles returning to Jabotabek on Wednesday (01/01) reached 179,579 units. This figure is 36.6 percent higher than the normal condition of 131,418 cars.

The high number of passing vehicles caused the toll road to experience congestion at several points. Therefore, the police implemented traffic engineering in the form of a contraflow to reduce queues.

According to Jasa Marga's records, the majority of vehicles came from the east (Trans-Java and Bandung). The total number of cars that passed was 87.1972 units or 48.5 percent.

Meanwhile, 50,229 cars or 28 percent of the total traffic came from the west (Merak). Then, 42,155 vehicles or 28 percent came from the south (Puncak).

In more detail, cars heading to Jabotabek from Trans-Java via the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate numbered 45,637 units. This figure is 81 percent higher than normal.

Meanwhile, cars from Bandung via the Kalihurip Utama Toll Gate were as many as 41,555 units. That number is up 52 percent from normal.

Meanwhile, cars passing through the Cikupa Toll Gate amounted to 50,229 vehicles. This figure is an increase of 7.2 percent from normal conditions.

Traffic congestion is expected to worsen towards the end of the week. Therefore, Jasa Marga is offering a 10 percent discount for those traveling on the Trans-Java toll road from Friday (03/01) to Saturday (04/01).

This toll rate discount is expected to encourage toll road users to return earlier so that traffic density can be distributed and the risk of congestion is reduced.

"The rate reduction starts at 05:00 WIB until 05:00 WIB (D+1) or is valid for 24 hours. The discount applies to all vehicle classes,” said Lisye Octaviana, Corporate Communication and Community Development Group Head of Jasa Marga, as reported by Antara.

The public is also asked to pay attention to their physical condition and their vehicles during the return trip. Also, prepare your electronic money balance so that transactions at the toll gate can proceed optimally.
