KatadataOTO – The National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas) is taking serious steps to crack down on frequent violations by ODOL (Over Dimension Over Loading) trucks.
This time, they have formed a national KDM (Excess Dimension and Load) law enforcement team. It aims to prevent violations by commercial transport vehicles.
“We will not tolerate KDM practices that have long been detrimental to the country, endangering safety, and damaging infrastructure,” said Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, Head of the National Police Traffic Corps, on the official Korlantas website, Wednesday (14/05).
Agus said that with the formation of this team, the crackdown on ODOL trucks will be more targeted, systematic, and firm.
Moreover, the team consists of personnel from the Regional Police Traffic Directorate, Resort Police Traffic Unit, and will work in synergy with the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub), the Transportation Agency, and other institutions.
“The focus of this team is to enforce order, take direct action in the field, and provide legal education to the owners and drivers of freight vehicles,” Agus continued.
He stated that the National Police is always committed to achieving zero ODOL for public safety, business fairness, and infrastructure sustainability.
Later, the team will conduct raids at points prone to ODOL truck violations, such as ports and industrial areas.
In addition, the National Police Traffic Corps will also utilize surveillance with ETLE cameras, integration of digital weighbridges, and application-based public reporting.
The Head of the Traffic Corps explained that ODOL trucks constitute a traffic crime. It is a violation that harms the state and therefore needs to be dealt with firmly.
“This is not just an enforcement action, but a systemic improvement effort. We will take firm action indiscriminately,” Agus concluded.
