KatadataOTO – The Traffic Directorate of the Metro Jaya Regional Police has finally spoken out regarding the accident involving a Lamborghini Murcielago on the Tangerang Toll Road on Sunday (17/8). They revealed that the incident was caused by the driver losing control of the vehicle and could potentially face sanctions.
Reported by Antara, the Lamborghini Murcielago with license plate number D 1357 QGK was driven by ES (37). At that time, he was driving from the direction of Benda to Serpong. However, upon reaching the Jakarta–Kunciran Toll Road, precisely at KM 15.200, he lost control.
The car, which was initially in the rightmost lane, suddenly swerved left and hit the road barrier.
"It then hit the guardrail on the left side, then swerved right, hitting the road divider. This resulted in a traffic accident that caused damage to the Lamborghini," said AKBP Ojo Ruslani, Head of the Law Enforcement Sub-directorate of the Metro Jaya Police Traffic Directorate.
Fortunately, there were no fatalities in the incident. However, there was significant material loss as the car sustained severe damage.
Not only that, the driver must also be responsible for the damage caused by the accident.
"ES will be summoned for clarification regarding the accident. The sanction is to pay for the road damage to the toll road operator," said Ojo.
Furthermore, if the vehicle's documents are found to be incomplete, the driver will also be ticketed.
Although there were no fatalities, the accident still garnered attention. Jusri Pulubuhu, Founder of Jakarta Defensive Driving Consulting (JDDC), revealed that supercars are always synonymous with speed, and this affects the driver's psychology.
This makes the driver want to appear superior to other drivers. As a result, their driving style changes.
"Indeed, the dimensions, price, brand, sound of the vehicle, and the profile of a car can sometimes affect psychology," he said.
However, every driver must prioritize safety. In addition, drivers must also prioritize traffic etiquette to reduce the risk of accidents.
"On the road, it's not about (relying on) skills, but knowledge that includes attitude," he concluded.
