KatadataOTO – The Ministry of Transportation continues to voice the importance of truck manufacturers in Indonesia embedding safety features. This is to minimize accidents on the road.

Starting with the simplest, the use of ABS brakes. Because this technology plays an important role in minimizing incidents.

Then another feature recommended to be embedded in trucks is the use of Electronic Stability Control (ESC). Because it can enhance and control the vehicle when it loses control.

“These features are currently optional. So we are encouraging them to be consistently implemented and improved,” said Yusuf Nugroho, Director of Road Facilities and Transportation, Directorate General of Land Transportation – Ministry of Transportation at ICE BSD (07/31).

It was further stated that with the technology used, vehicles will become more efficient. It is also important because it supports travel safety.

UD Trucks itself has adopted a number of technologies that support safety. The products marketed have safety feature options like ABS.

However, it was stated that the units sold depend on consumer needs.

“When it comes to braking systems, we also have ABS. Because for our friends at Pertamina, that is the main requirement,” Al Ghaniari, Government Relations for UD Trucks Indonesia at the same location.

Speaking of innovation, the UD Trucks Quester is already equipped with the ESCOT (Automatic Manual Transmission) AMT automatic transmission.

This technology is claimed to not only make fuel consumption more efficient. But also reduces driver fatigue, an important factor in reducing work-related accidents.

UD Trucks is also promoting digitalization in fleet management through the My UD Fleet system. This service allows logistics companies to monitor vehicles in real time.

Thus enabling analysis of driver behavior and implementation of more planned vehicle maintenance.

“Technology is not just a feature, but a solution. By combining cleaner engines, smart transmissions, and fleet connectivity through My UD Fleet, we want to be a partner in the national logistics transformation. We have tested this solution in various regions and it has been proven to increase operational efficiency,” explained Catur Satyawira, Product Management Representative for UD Trucks Indonesia.

Armed with the approach above, UD Trucks Indonesia strives to reduce the risk of work-related accidents.
