KatadataOTO – The commercial vehicle market performance in 2025 is still not optimal. It's even considered sluggish due to many obstacles.
In fact, a similar condition is predicted to still occur next year. As stated by Krama Yudha Tiga Berlian Motors (KTB) as the manufacturer of Mitsubishi Fuso in Indonesia.
“I've said before, if several sectors don't change, the condition will be the same, it will still be challenging,” said Aji Jaya, Sales and Marketing Director of KTB in Surabaya, East Java some time ago.
According to Aji, the commercial vehicle market situation is influenced by several factors. Such as the economy and geopolitics, which make it less vibrant.
So if the various factors above do not improve, it will have a significant impact on the domestic situation.
“If things are not good out there, they won't spend, right? Automatically, palm oil and mining entrepreneurs also won't invest because they don't get enough income,” said Aji.
Furthermore, Mitsubishi Fuso predicts that the sectors facing challenges this year will likely continue to face similar issues in 2026.
However, Aji emphasized that this could change if the government has strategic projects that can be implemented next year.
“If the realization of the government's strategic projects is added, yes, it could be bigger. The most important thing is that the government just spends (next year),” Aji concluded.
Indeed, in 2025 the government is not spending too much. They are implementing budget savings from the central to the regional level.
This decision turned out to have a significant impact, including being felt by players in the automotive industry.
Therefore, Mitsubishi Fuso hopes that President Prabowo Subianto and his staff will be willing to disburse funds for spending in 2026.
For your information, Mitsubishi Fuso is quite bold in setting targets for next year even though the situation will be very challenging.
The brand from Japan plans to maintain its dominance in the commercial vehicle market. They even want to achieve a higher target.
“For next year's market share, well, at a minimum our target is the same. If we round it up, it will be about 40 percent,” said Aji.
For your information, Mitsubishi Fuso's market share from January to November 2025 successfully reached 39.9 percent.
Based on that data, Aji wants them to continue maintaining that positive performance throughout 2026.
