KatadataOTO – The police have recorded an increase in the number of vehicles during the return traffic of Eid 2025. This has been happening since Saturday (04/05).

It then continued until today, Sunday (04/06). This certainly has the potential to cause long traffic jams.

Therefore, the Korlantas (National Police Traffic Corps) has taken several preventive measures. Such as implementing the national one-way system today.

“Based on the traffic counting we have been monitoring from yesterday afternoon until last night, the volume has exceeded the average, so we decided to implement the national one-way system,” said General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, the Chief of the National Police, on the official Korlantas Polri website.

The Chief of Police explained that the traffic engineering is being implemented from KM 414 to KM 70.

Then after passing KM 70, the Korlantas Polri will implement a contraflow system. This traffic engineering will be in effect up to KM 46 towards Jakarta.

He stated that the police will continue to monitor the dynamics on the ground. So that the public's return journey can be smoother.

Sigit said he has instructed his staff to always be on standby in the field to manage traffic well.

“I ask the staff to truly be on standby in the field, managing traffic well and providing services on both toll roads and arterial roads,” Sigit continued.

On the other hand, Dudy Purwagandhi, the Minister of Transportation (Menhub), said that as of last night, 1.1 million four-wheeled vehicles had headed back to Jakarta.

Meanwhile, another 1.1 million travelers' cars will also return to Jabodetabek (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi) in the coming days.

“The hope is that by implementing this national one-way system, we can ease traffic density,” said Dudy on the same occasion.

Other Schemes Available

Meanwhile, if long traffic jams occur during the peak of the Eid 2025 return traffic, Korlantas has prepared various other schemes.

Such as diverting the flow of travelers through various toll roads that can be used during the Eid 2025 return traffic.

For example, by diverting to the Cisumdawu Toll Road. The public can also use the Japek II South Toll Road, which has been opened functionally.

“Incentives will also be provided for this, such as making it free of charge and so on. We have prepared this so that we can truly manage the peak of the return traffic as expected,” Sigit concluded.
