The number of visitors to GIIAS 2025 is predicted to increase, but this is not matched by transactions.
KatadataOTO – The challenges faced in the automotive industry are not over yet. The GIIAS 2025 exhibition does offer ease of vehicle purchase, but it is believed to be insufficient to boost purchasing power.
The Association of Indonesia Automotive Industries (Gaikindo) highlights that the number of visitors to GIIAS 2025 is indeed predicted to increase.
Gaikindo even stated that the number of visitors is being managed to prevent overcrowding, in order to maintain the comfort of all parties during the exhibition at ICE BSD, Tangerang.
“The increase (in visitor numbers) is approximately five to 10 percent, not more than 10 percent. We are trying to manage it, because if it's too crowded, it's not comfortable for the visitors,” said Yohannes Nangoi, Chairman of Gaikindo, when met in Tangerang on Saturday (02/08).
However, he was reluctant to detail the methods used to control the number of visitors at GIIAS 2025.
On the other hand, the increase in visitors was not matched by an increase in transactions.
“It seems to have decreased slightly. If we look, the economic conditions are indeed a bit tough, and we also see that up to the middle of this year, June, sales have dropped,” said Nangoi.
Unfortunately, he was still unwilling to disclose the total number of transactions at GIIAS 2025.
“The main purpose of this exhibition is not to sell (vehicles). The main goal of this exhibition is to communicate and inform about the latest technologies,” he said.
For your information, GIIAS 2025 was held from July 24 to August 3. Dozens of vehicle brands were present to liven up the exhibition.
Many Chinese brands introduced their newest models and interesting prototypes at their booths to indulge visitors and automotive enthusiasts.
Not only did they bring new products, but a few of them also implemented price reductions for their cars, both during the exhibition and for the foreseeable future.
A test drive area was also provided for visitors and potential buyers who wanted to try the latest vehicles at GIIAS 2025.
With the increasing number of brands, the exhibition area became more crowded, and all the halls there were in use.
Therefore, Gaikindo is considering moving the exhibition location to a larger venue to accommodate this, such as Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK).
