KatadataOTO – The Premier League is in deep mourning. Because one of Liverpool's players, namely Diogo Jota, has been declared dead.

Jota, along with his younger brother, Andre Silva, had a terrible accident on the A52 highway in Zamora, northwestern Spain, on Thursday (03/07) local time.

According to a statement from the Zamora Provincial Council, Jota was driving a green-colored Lamborghini.

Then, while trying to overtake the vehicle in front of him, Diogo Jota's car suffered a tire blowout.

As a result, the four-wheeled vehicle was thrown to the left side of the road and hit the barrier. Thus, Diogo Jota's Lamborghini caught fire.

Jota and Andre's lives could not be saved. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident was immediately investigated by local authorities. They are looking for the cause of the Liverpool player's accident.

According to an ABC News report on Friday (04/07), a spokesperson for the Civil Police Agency leading the investigation said that one of the tires on Diogo Jota's car was believed to be deflated.

“At this time, it is impossible to say for sure how fast the car was going,” he said.

He also explained that the speed of Diogo Jota's car could be revealed after they conduct a thorough investigation.

The local police also collected some evidence from the field, such as tire tracks from the Liverpool player's vehicle.

“What I can confirm is that no other vehicles were involved and there were no other victims,” he asserted.

On the other hand, Angel Blanco, a local government official, stated that a tire blowout is suspected to be the main cause of Diogo Jota's accident yesterday.

For your information, as the investigation proceeds, the wreckage of the burnt-out Lamborghini has been evacuated by authorities from the scene.

However, debris from Diogo Jota's vehicle can still be seen scattered on the side of the A52 highway. Long tire tracks are also visible on the asphalt.

It should be noted, Diogo Jota passed away at the very young age of 28. He was a quite accomplished footballer.

The burial process for Jota and his younger brother will take place in Portugal. Jose Manuel Macedo, a local pastor, confirmed that the wake will be held at the Sao Cosme Chapel.
