KatadataOTO – The Supreme Court has officially received special license plates with the initial code “MA”. Thanks to this, the head of the institution is entitled to use the license plate “MA 1”, changed from the previous “RI 8”.
The special license plate was symbolically given by Police Senior Commissioner Dedy Suhartono, Head of the Vehicle Registration Certificate (STNK) Sub-Directorate of the National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas), to Sugiyanto, Secretary of the Supreme Court.
The license plate change is stated in Letter Number B/11573/VI/YAN.1.2./2025/Korlantas, signed by Inspector General of Police Agus Suryo Nugroho, Head of the National Police Traffic Corps.
In a press release, it was stated that the process of making the special license plates was carried out from February to April 2025. The two parties held various meetings to find an agreement so that the facility could be realized.
There are quite a few who are entitled to use these special Vehicle Registration Certificates (STNK) and Vehicle Number Plates (TNKB). These include state-owned official vehicles at the Supreme Court or judicial bodies under it, loan-to-use units from other ministries/agencies, as well as rentals/contracts to support the duties of certain officials within the judiciary.
This facility will be used by the leadership of the Supreme Court, supreme court justices, ad hoc judges, and structural and functional officials within the judiciary. Clerks, class II court secretaries, and other officials directly involved in carrying out judicial duties are also entitled to use them, provided they first obtain approval from the Secretary of the Supreme Court.
The process of issuing these license plates cannot be said to be easy. This is because the institution, through the Secretary of the Supreme Court, must submit an application to the National Police Chief.
After that, it is directed to the Head of the Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) through the Head of the National Police's Security Intelligence Agency (Kabaintelkam). The approval letter from the Head of the Traffic Corps will be sent to each Regional Police Traffic Director as the basis for issuing the special STNK and plates.
Unfortunately, it was not stated how long it takes to complete the entire procedure. The existence of these special license plates is expected to strengthen the institution's position and make it easier for them to manage official vehicles.
The public will now also find it easier to monitor the use of the Supreme Court's official vehicles. This is because the special license plates will be conspicuous on the road.
