Check Latest Fees for Custom License Plates 2026

KatadataOTO – Creating a motor vehicle registration number (NRKB) with special numbers or a vanity plate can be done according to the owner's needs.

However, the cost of creating a license plate varies, as regulated in Government Regulation No. 76 of 2020 concerning the Types and Tariffs of Non-Tax State Revenue applicable to the Indonesian National Police (Polri).

For those of you who want to create a vanity plate, you need to prepare a budget starting from at least IDR 5 million.

This applies to plates that have a combination of four numbers followed by letters.

There are several number combinations that can be categorized as vanity plates. For example, 2000, 2002, 2111, 2112, 8888, and 9999.

There is also an option for vehicle owners to choose one to three numbers on the plate. The combination can be determined by themselves.

Cost of Creating a Vanity Plate

NRKB with a 1-digit combination

• No letters after the number: IDR 20,000,000 
• With letters after the number: IDR 15,000,000 

NRKB with a 2-digit combination

• No letters after the numbers: IDR 15,000,000 
• With letters after the numbers: IDR 10,000,000 

NRKB with a 3-digit combination

• No letters after the numbers: IDR 10,000,000 
• With letters after the numbers: IDR 7,500,000 

NRKB with a 4-digit combination

• No letters after the numbers: IDR 7,500,000 
• With letters after the numbers: IDR 5,000,000

Make no mistake, as the validity period of a vanity plate is the same as a regular NRKB. Referring to National Police Regulation Number 7 of 2021, the validity period is five years.

The regulation concerning Motor Vehicle Registration and Identification in Article 7 states that the owner needs to pay a special fee for the vanity plate upon renewal.

If the owner decides not to continue using the vanity plate, it will be replaced with an available plate with a random number combination.
