Test Drive Chery Tiggo 8 CSH, An Alternative Gasoline Car with an EV Feel

KatadataOTO – PT CSI (Chery Sales Indonesia) received a positive response after the launch of their newest SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle), the Chery Tiggo 8 CSH.

The model, touted as the cheapest PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) in Indonesia, was then tested by a number of media crews, including KatadataOTO.

The route was PIK 2-Bandung-PIK 2. This opportunity also served as a proving ground for the range of the Chery Tiggo 8 CSH, which combines the performance of an electric motor and an internal combustion engine.

“We want to show directly that this 7-seater SUV is not just an energy-efficient vehicle alternative, but also a mobility solution, capable of surpassing the limitations of a pure electric vehicle,” said Rifkie Setiawan, Head of Brand Department at PT CSI in PIK 2 some time ago.

The journey started from Land’s End PIK 2. The gas tank and charging socket were sealed by Chery to prove the electricity and fuel consumption efficiency of the Tiggo 8 CSH.

Driving Position

The electric seats in the Chery Tiggo 8 CSH made it easy for us to find an ergonomic position. The forward view was clear.

However, adjusting the side mirrors via the head unit was quite troublesome for us. But this has become common in most recent vehicles, especially Chinese cars.

For drivers around 150 cm tall and above, it feels quite spacious. 

However, the large center console seems to narrow the legroom for drivers 160 cm tall and above.
