KatadataOTO – Chinese automotive manufacturer, BYD (Build Your Dreams) is increasingly aggressive in introducing its line of environmentally friendly vehicles to the global market. Recently, the brand even intended to partner with their rival, Tesla.

BYD stated that collaboration is one of the steps that helps Chinese brands develop further, even if it means partnering with a rival.

“Our main enemy is the ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) car. We need to work together to transform this industry,” said Stella Li, Executive Vice President of BYD, as quoted by the Financial Times on Tuesday (4/3).

According to Li, various Chinese brands have different strategies from other manufacturers, especially Western ones like the United States.

In the Chinese automotive industry, various related parties do not hesitate to share information about the latest technology, including in electric cars and autonomous driving, with other foreign countries.

“The Chinese government is actually more open. So, there might be many wrong perceptions here,” said Li.

Not long ago, BYD also launched its latest ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) technology, called God’s Eye. This new technology will be embedded in various BYD vehicle models at no additional cost.
