Even though they are under the spotlight in various countries, Chinese car manufacturers still face one challenge in the automotive market.
KatadataOTO – Chinese cars, especially their electrification lineup, are currently in the spotlight in various countries. One of the advantages offered is an abundance of features at a low price.
Although sales are rising rapidly, Chinese car manufacturers are considered to have a number of challenges in competing with other manufacturers who have been in the business longer.
Reported by Carscoops, a study conducted in Vietnam shows that many new brands from China have much higher depreciation.
This becomes a distinct disadvantage when compared to other traditional manufacturers that already have a market in global countries, such as Toyota.
It was further explained that the study involved popular models produced by MG in Vietnam from 2022 to 2024, namely the MG 5, ZS, and HS EV (Electric Vehicle).
MG cars were chosen for the research because the manufacturer is the largest Chinese brand in Vietnam.
As a result, the MG HS SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) experienced the largest drop in value at 33 percent, in just two years.
Meanwhile, the MG 5 sedan had a depreciation of 27 percent, followed by the ZS at 24 percent.
