KatadataOTO – The competition for hybrid cars in Indonesia seems to be getting tighter. Especially at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2025 event.
Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) is reportedly preparing a four-wheeled vehicle with a hybrid powertrain for the exhibition at ICE BSD, Tangerang.
"New real hybrid is coming, excellent efficiency, ultra low emission, responsive acceleration, advanced safety It's real, coming soon," wrote Daihatsu in a video they shared on Thursday (17/07).
Unfortunately, not much information could be obtained from the video. Only the launch date or time of July 24, 2025, was mentioned.
Meanwhile, when asked for more details, the Japanese manufacturer was still shy about revealing its prospective environmentally friendly four-wheeled vehicle.
“Just wait for GIIAS 2025 on July 24, Daihatsu will present an interesting surprise. Basically, we will launch a new car,” said Sri Agung Handayani, Marketing Director & Corporate Communication of ADM.
Looking at it, it is highly likely that their new product at GIIAS 2025 will be the Daihatsu Rocky Hybrid.
Considering the car is already marketed in Japan. It was also brought to Indonesia on several occasions, such as at last year's GIIAS
"It (the Daihatsu Rocky Hybrid) is going to be launched at GIIAS 2025," a Daihatsu salesperson told KatadataOTO on Friday (18/07).
At that time, the Daihatsu Rocky Hybrid displayed at GIIAS 2024 was the highest variant, the Premium G HEV 1.2 L.
Its powertrain has a 1,200 cc three-cylinder WA-VEX type engine. The engine is claimed to be able to produce up to 80 hp at 5,600 rpm and 3,200 torque at 3,200-5,200 rpm.
Then there is an electric motor with a power of 78 kW or 104.6 hp and 170 Nm of torque. It is then paired with a Lithium-Ion battery with a capacity of 4.3 Ah.
