The Mazda EZ-60 electric SUV could be a replacement for the MX-30, which is reportedly set to be discontinued by the end of 2025.
KatadataOTO – Japanese manufacturers don't want to be left behind in the electrification era. Manufacturers like Mazda recently launched EVs (Electric Vehicles) and PHEVs (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles) for Indonesian consumers.
However, it should be noted that there are rumors that Mazda's first electric car in Indonesia, the MX-30, will be discontinued in its home country towards the end of this year.
The Mazda MX-30 EV targets only specific consumer segments such as collectors or Mazda enthusiasts, and is still fully imported or CBU (Completely Built Up) from Japan.
With a claimed range of around 200 km and an unconventional design, the Mazda MX-30 is priced at around IDR 860 million OTR (On The Road) Jakarta.
When confirmed about the future of the MX-30 in the country, Mazda stated they are still waiting for information from Mazda Japan.
“Regarding the potential of the Mazda EZ-60 as a successor to the MX-30, which will cease production at the end of 2025, there is currently no official decision,” said Ricky Thio, Chief Operating Officer of PT Eurokars Motor Indonesia to KatadataOTO some time ago.
If production in Japan is halted, it is highly likely that the MX-30 will also stop being sold in the country.
Considering there are no plans for Mazda to locally assemble the MX-30 electric car at the facility that is claimed to be under construction.
