KatadataOTO – Welcoming 2026, MG is committed to launching more vehicle options. Impressively, at least four new models will be brought to the country.
The presence of these models is expected to boost their sales in Indonesia. Moreover, each will be produced locally, so their prices are expected to remain competitive.
“So far, we are preparing more than four models to be launched. One of them is the MG S5 EV which was already introduced at GIIAS 2025,” said Hary Kurniawan, Head of Marketing for MG Motor Indonesia in Jakarta (17/12).
The model will be launched in the first quarter of 2026 with a Local Content Level (TKDN) of 40 percent. This amount is claimed to continue increasing along with the developments they will make in the future.
Besides electric cars, he confirmed they will bring other models with various powertrain technologies. Ranging from ICE to hybrid to provide options for the public.
“As for the factory itself, we will optimize the existing one. Its production capacity reaches 50,000 per year,” he later added.
It should be noted that the MG S5 EV was actually introduced in Indonesia at the GIIAS 2025 event. The model comes with a simpler appearance compared to other options, although it remains attractive.
This car has a length of 4,476 mm, a width of 1,849 mm, a height of 1,633 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,730 mm. These dimensions are quite compact and suitable for Indonesia's generally narrow roads.
Various interesting features have also been included, such as Automatic Climate Control with Rear Vents, Rain Sensing Wipers, keyless entry, and the V2L (Vehicle to Load) function.
Meanwhile, the entertainment sector is supported by a 12.8-inch infotainment screen, six speakers, as well as Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto connectivity.
The MG S5 EV will come in two battery options: 50 kWh and 64 kWh. For the highest option, its range can reach 500 km.
Various safety features have also been included to protect the driver and passengers. Ranging from Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, to Traffic Sign Recognition.
Not only that, the car is also equipped with MG Pilot technology. It includes advanced features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, and Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) with pedestrian and cyclist detection.
