KatadataOTO – Mazda is a Japanese manufacturer that has successfully maintained its sales figures throughout 2025. In the January-November 2025 period, its retail sales stood at 2,874 units.

Undeniably, the automotive industry is currently facing challenges. The weakening of purchasing power and an economic condition that has not fully recovered have had a major impact on new car sales.

“In Indonesia, most people still consider a car as a  means of mobility, an important element in daily life,” said Ricky Thio, Chief Operating Officer of PT Eurokars Motor Indonesia in his official statement, quoted on Thursday (18/12).

However, he revealed that many consumers also see cars as a lifestyle and not just a tool for mobility, in line with the value offered by Mazda through its vehicle lineup.

This has been one of the keys to Mazda maintaining stable sales in 2025.

According to Gaikindo data, Mazda's sales on a retail basis have been stable at 200 to 300 units per month. The lowest figure was 205 in April 2025.

Ricky also explained that Mazda's market share decline in October 2025 was 0.12 percent. This figure is claimed to be lower than that of several other Japanese manufacturers.

Internal data from PT Eurokars Motor Indonesia indicates that many manufacturers from the Land of the Rising Sun experienced a market share correction of 2-3 percent.

Meanwhile, in terms of retail sales or distribution from dealers to consumers, the premium segment from both Japan and Europe experienced a contraction of 39 percent to 44 percent. Mazda was only at 29 percent.

Ricky emphasized that factors such as Total Ownership Cost (TOC), which includes service costs and resale value, are considerations for consumers before purchasing a car at this time.

Therefore, Mazda strives to offer a TOC that is efficient and beneficial for consumers.

Nevertheless, he hopes the automotive market can recover again in 2026 with support from all related parties.

“The purchasing power curve is expected to rise again. With a healthy and collaborative ecosystem, this industry will find its momentum,” Ricky affirmed.
