KatadataOTO – President Prabowo Subianto's desire to make the Pindad Maung the official vehicle for ministers and deputy ministers is expected to proceed smoothly. This is because the budget for the procurement of these facilities is already available.
This was conveyed by Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, the Minister of Finance, who revealed that the procurement budget is available. However, the industry's capacity is now a challenge to achieving this goal.
“There should be a budget this year, but it turns out the capacity (of PT Pindad) is not yet sufficient, so it was returned,” said Purbaya, as reported by Antara.
He also revealed that the disbursement of the budget for the Maung light tactical vehicle depends on the industry's readiness. If the industry is ready next year, Purbaya is prepared to disburse the budget.
“It depends on the industry because I am targeting the money to be there. Later, if I get involved in the industry, they'll say I'm interfering,” he said.
It was previously reported that President Prabowo Subianto revealed his desire to make the Pindad Maung an official vehicle.
Soon, you all will have to use the Maung. I don't want to hear about using nice cars only on holidays," Prabowo said some time ago.
Prabowo also stated that the government has taken the initial steps to introduce an Indonesian-made car within the next three years. The government has prepared funds and land for the construction of a factory that will produce domestic vehicles. Currently, the development team is said to be working on preparing for this.
It should be noted that the ministers are planned to use the Pindad Maung MV3, which generally features a rugged design with sharp angles. This vehicle already uses 70 percent local components, while the remaining 30 percent are still imported from foreign countries.
The weight of the Pindad Maung is 2.95 tons with dimensions of L x W x H at 5.05 m x 2.06 m x 1.87 m. Specifically for the unit used by the president, the car is coated with Composite Armor material, making it resistant to 7.62 x 51 mm NATO Ball and 5.56 x 45 mm M193 caliber ammunition, combined with B5/B6 level bulletproof glass.
Turning to the mechanical heart, PT Pindad has equipped the MV3 Garuda Limousine with a 199 hp engine, channeled through an eight-speed automatic transmission. Meanwhile, its maximum speed is claimed to be 100 km/h.
