KatadataOTO – Sales Toyota in Indonesia experienced a fairly significant decline in 2025. Based on data from the manufacturer, they were only able to sell 260,446 units (including Lexus).
This figure fell 12.2 percent compared to the achievement in 2024. At that time the manufacturer managed to sell 296,546 units.
This situation also received special attention from Toyota Motor Corporation as the parent company. They noted several factors that caused the drop in sales figures.
In the statement it was conveyed that the market challenges faced are quite significant. Ranging from strict credit regulations to increased vehicle taxes.
Nevertheless, Indonesia remains one of Toyota's important markets. After all, they continue to be the largest car manufacturer in the archipelago.
In fact, its sales are still the third highest in Asia. Toyota Indonesia is only surpassed by China and India.
Even the Bamboo Curtain country becomes the nation with the largest sales in Asia thanks to a market of 3.28 million units. This figure grew 2.2 percent compared to 2024 which was only 3.21 million units.
The high sales figure was achieved thanks to the strong public response to several electric cars that were newly launched. Starting from bZ3X, bZ5 and several other hybrid models.
Meanwhile, India also received a good response from the public. In that country, sales reached 351,412 units, a growth of 17.1 percent from last year.
This achievement deserves special attention because Toyota sales in India in 2023 were actually still below Indonesia. However, since 2024 its growth has increased quite rapidly.
Toyota Astra Motor as the APM in Indonesia also did not stay idle. They promised to prepare a number of initiatives to improve its performance in 2026.
One of them is to add electrified products as the market continues to develop. The model they will highlight is the Toyota Veloz Hybrid.
This car is planned to start being delivered to customers in mid-February. Thus, customers are expected to be able to use it for the 2026 Lebaran homecoming travel.
In addition, Toyota will also launch at least three electrified models at the IIMS 2026 event. This will therefore expand the public's options for environmentally friendly vehicles.
