What to Do After Your Electric Car Is Flooded

Even though electric cars are claimed to be safe when passing through or submerged in floods, they still require special handling.

Avoid Direct Contact with the Electrical System

Second, when an electric car is exposed to flooding, the risk of damage to the electrical system becomes very high. Water can cause short circuits in vital components.

The driver must avoid direct contact with the electrical system and prevent touching any submerged parts.

Do Not Touch It at All

Third, do not touch your electric four-wheeled vehicle at all. This is because when you open the door, the EV will usually activate its entire system.

This is because modern electric cars no longer rely on a power button. You simply need to bring the vehicle's remote close or open the door.

Check the Battery Condition

The fourth step is to check the electric car's battery. Ensure the power storage unit remains dry.

Although the battery has water protection, it doesn't hurt to still check its condition.

Document the Damage

Fifth, if damage is found, you are advised to document it. This is important for insurance claim purposes.

This way, you won't have to spend too much out of pocket when damage occurs to the electric car.

Evacuate Safely

Finally, if your electric car dies or breaks down after passing through or being submerged in a flood, it is recommended not to push it yourself.

It is best to call a professional technician. Then, use a tow truck specifically for electric four-wheeled vehicles, not a regular one.

When towing an EV, all wheels must not be on the asphalt. It is recommended to transport the electric car using a flatbed tow truck.
