KatadataOTO – Jaecoo is preparing to introduce an SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) in the premium segment, the J8 AWD (All Wheel Drive), in the near future.

This model is reportedly being sold in the price range of Rp 700 million to Rp 800 million, targeting young families who travel in urban areas.

However, the Jaecoo J8 is also claimed to be suitable for tackling offroad terrain. This is because it adopts several capable features from the Range Rover such as adaptive suspension and four-wheel vectoring capabilities.

“The Jaecoo J8 is inspired by the Range Rover Velar. Since 2011, we have had a joint venture with Jaguar Land Rover, so the Head of Design is also the same,” said Ryan Derdiean Tirto, Head of Product for Jaecoo Indonesia in Sentul recently.

KatadataOTO, along with several media colleagues, had a brief opportunity to test the Jaecoo J8 on urban roads and offroad areas. Here is the review.

Exterior and Interior Design

At a glance, the body shape and design language of the Jaecoo J8 are very identical to the Range Rover.

Although it can be taken offroad, its appearance does not give the impression of a rugged car. There aren't many body kits or accessories, and the flush door handles add an elegant touch to the J8.

The interior is available in black and light brown color options with Nappa Leather material. The first and second-row seats are equipped with electric adjustments as well as massage and heating features.
