KatadataOTO had the opportunity to directly test drive the Aletra L8 EV electric car from Jakarta to Magelang.
By Satrio Adhy
The sound of tire friction on the asphalt did not penetrate the cabin too much. Making it more comfortable for long-distance travel.
For your information, the Aletra L8 EV is equipped with a motor producing 120 kW, equivalent to 161 hp. The peak torque reaches 240 Nm.
With the aforementioned powertrain, this electric car can perform very well. Moreover, it has two driving modes available: Eco and Sport.
However, when using Eco mode, the initial acceleration of the Aletra L8 EV is not very responsive. So, if you want more power, you can use Sport mode.
Using Sport mode, the Aletra L8 EV can be pushed to a maximum speed of 162 km per hour.
The power delivery is also smooth. There is no aggressive jolt typical of other electric cars on the market.
It is paired with a 64.74 kWh short blade bulletproof battery. It is claimed to be able to take the Aletra L8 EV as far as 540 km on a single charge (CLTC).
Thanks to this battery capacity, the Aletra L8 EV only needed to be charged twice. First at PLN UP3 Cirebon and then at the Rest Area KM 397A Batang.
After driving and being a passenger in the Aletra L8 EV, this car can be relied upon for young families.
However, there are a few notes from the KatadataOTO team. For instance, there is no normal mode, forcing the driver to rely on Eco and Sport.
The head unit was also difficult to connect with smart devices. The device has to be perfectly compatible for it to connect.
Additionally, the third-row seats cannot be folded flat. When additional luggage space is needed, it is less than optimal.
Nevertheless, the Aletra L8 EV is suitable for long journeys. Such as during the 2026 Eid homecoming season.
