10 Best-selling Cars in Indonesia in 2024, Toyota Kijang Innova Leads

KatadataOTO – Car sales in Indonesia in 2024 experienced significant pressure. As a result, the market size underwent a significant correction compared to the previous year.

Based on data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries or Gaikindo, vehicle wholesales from January to December were only 865,723 units. That number is 140,079 units or about 13.9 percent lower than the previous achievement of 1,005,802 units.

However, this figure is still considered to meet Gaikindo's target after it was revised to 850,000 units from the previous 1 million units.

The Toyota Kijang Innova successfully became the best-selling model throughout 2024 after selling 63,676 units. Although it managed to maintain its position, last year's achievement was actually higher at 66,460 units.

Next is the Toyota Avanza, which rose to second place from its previous fourth position after recording wholesales of 55,838 units. That figure is actually smaller than last year's, which was 59,543 units.

The Daihatsu Sigra successfully maintained its position as the third best-selling model in Indonesia with wholesales of 54,709 units. Meanwhile, last year's total reached 61,752 units.

Then, the Honda Brio had to relinquish the runner-up position it achieved last year, as it only managed to ship 51,133 units to dealers. That number is much smaller than the 2023 achievement of 62,195 units.

Closing out the top five is the Daihatsu Gran Max Pick Up, with 42,122 units shipped. That number is only a slight decrease from the previous 43,197 units.

Nevertheless, Gaikindo is optimistic that vehicle sales can return to the 1 million unit mark this year. This is because several new manufacturers are expected to enter the country.
