KatadataOTO – The automotive industry is projected to still face a number of challenges this year. However, in mid-2025, several brands experienced growth in car sales.

Referring to retail data (distribution from dealers to consumers) from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo) as of July 2025, Toyota still holds the first position with 20,185 units, an increase of 1.78 percent from June's achievement.

In second place, Daihatsu also recorded a similar positive result with 11,220 units, up 10.8 percent from 10,001 units throughout June.

However, Honda actually experienced a decline from 5,328 units (June 2025) to 5,003 units, a drop of about six percent.

The electric car manufacturer from China, BYD, maintained its position in sixth place with sales of 2,827 units, an increase of 23 percent compared to June's retail figures.

On the other hand, Chery achieved less satisfactory results in July with 1,705 units. Previously, their sales had reached 2,150 units, marking a decrease of 20.6 percent.

Then, Hyundai experienced a slight decrease from 1,721 units in June to 1,402 units throughout July (down 18.5 percent).

This unstable condition is expected to continue. In fact, Gaikindo is believed to be revising its target soon.
