KatadataOTO – Although still generally under pressure, car sales in May 2025 saw growth compared to the previous month. This is evident from the wholesale figures reported by Gaikindo.

A total of 60,613 vehicle units were successfully shipped from factories to dealers, an increase compared to April which only reached 51,205 units. Of this total, Japanese manufacturers successfully dominated the market.

The Toyota Avanza became the best-selling car with 3,360 units successfully shipped. This figure is a slight increase from the previous month's 2,595 units.

The second best-selling model was the Daihatsu Sigra, which shipped 3,059 units. This number saw a significant drop, as their wholesale figure in the previous month was 4,020 units.

Then, in third place is the Toyota Kijang Innova Zenix, which recorded sales to dealers of 2,950 units throughout May. The number increased slightly, as in April they were only able to sell 2,846 units.

Next, in fourth place is the Toyota Calya, after recording sales of 2,480 units. The figure grew quite significantly compared to the previous month's 1,272 units.

The Toyota Rush rounded out the top five best-selling cars in Indonesia. The model successfully shipped 2,431 units to dealers, an increase from the previous 2,019 units.

Meanwhile, the electric vehicles that made it onto the list of best-selling cars in Indonesia are the BYD Sealion 7 and M6. They secured the 12th and 14th positions, respectively.
