KatadataOTO – The competition for Premium MPVs in Indonesia is about to heat up. This is because the GAC E9 PHEV has started to be displayed to entice Toyota Alphard customers.
The car was shown for the first time in Indonesia during the inauguration of the Aion factory located in Purwakarta, West Java. Its presence seems to signal an imminent launch.
“We are showcasing the E9 PHEV to show that a Right-Hand Drive version of the model already exists. As for when the launch will happen, just wait for the date,” explained Andry Ciu, CEO of AION Indonesia.
The car's exterior design is claimed to be inspired by a lion, giving it a tough impression. The grille is quite large and chrome-plated to make it more luxurious.
It should be noted that the E9 PHEV was first launched in Hong Kong in November 2024. The car comes in a boxy design with dimensions of 5,212 mm in length, 1,893 mm in width, 1,823 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 3,070 mm.
These large dimensions allow the manufacturer to design a spacious cabin interior. The second-row seats are equipped with a small screen to adjust the seats for maximum comfort
Various features have been embedded, including massage seats in the second row. Thanks to this, it is hoped that customers can rest during the journey.
To enhance the comfortable driving experience, the E9 PHEV is equipped with an Electromagnetic Damping Suspension (EDS). With this, it is expected that vibrations during the journey can be suppressed.
The GAC E9 PHEV also uses sliding doors equipped with soundproof glass. Thanks to this, it is expected that external noise can be dampened.
This car is equipped with a 2,000 cc engine capable of producing 188 hp and 330 Nm of torque. That powertrain is then paired with an electric motor producing 180 hp and 300 Nm of torque.
The total power produced by both is 367 hp and 630 Nm of torque.
The GAC E9 PHEV uses a 25.67 kWh Magazine Battery 2.0. Thanks to this, the car can travel in EV mode for up to 106 km.
Meanwhile, the car's total range reaches 1,032 km with a fuel consumption of 16.5 km per liter.
