KatadataOTO – Aletra is a brand under the Geely Group and its products have been adapted for the Indonesian market. Currently, there is one model offered, namely the L8 and L8s.

The manufacturer has become more aggressive, even starting to build a research and development (R&D) center in Alam Sutera, Tangerang, Banten.

In the future, Aletra has also expressed interest in producing electric batteries. This could potentially lower the price of the Aletra L8 electric car.

“We will not immediately build a factory (for battery assembly), but first assemble what we can in Indonesia,” said Djoko Purwanto, Technical Director of Aletra in South Jakarta some time ago.

For now, Aletra uses batteries from Gotion specifically for the lowest L8 type, while the highest L8s variant is supplied by Zhejiang Yoening Technology Group, which is also part of Geely.

The difference is, the battery made by Yoening is the latest generation Blade Battery with a smaller size but high energy density. Thus, it offers a capable driving range and good safety.

“This factory (for battery assembly) is separate from the factory at Handal (PT Handal Indonesia Motor) for car assembly. This is really just for batteries,” Djoko emphasized.

For your information, Aletra debuted at the GJAW (Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week) 2024 automotive exhibition. The electric car enters the MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle) segment, a new rival to the BYD M6.

In terms of price, it is also not much different, starting from Rp 415 million. However, the BYD M6 is available in its lowest variant for Rp 379 million OTR (On The Road) Jakarta.

If consumers are interested in buying the lowest type of Aletra L8 with a Gotion battery, delivery could be as early as April 2025. Meanwhile, the L8s is around June 2025.

Aletra claims that the majority of Aletra L8 consumers choose the highest variant due to its long driving range.

“The number of SPK (vehicle order letters) has reached more than 700, with the highest orders, 80 percent, for the L8s type,” said Andre Djojana, CEO of Aletra, in a statement received by KatadataOTO recently.

He emphasized that this number continues to grow in the first quarter of 2025 and will be revealed in more detail towards the end of the first quarter, coinciding with the inauguration of the Aletra 3S (Sales, Service, Sparepart) showroom in Pluit.
