Appearance of the Nio Firefly Electric Car Registered in Indonesia

KatadataOTO – Nio is one of the electric vehicle or EV (Electric Vehicle) manufacturers from China that is reportedly interested in entering the Indonesian market.

Recently, the Indonesian Ambassador to China revealed that Nio is in the discussion stage to invest in the country.

They are even reportedly intending to build a factory, a similar step taken by BYD (Build Your Dreams).

“Nio is the second largest EV brand (in China). It is in the business process of entering Indonesia,” said Djauhari Oratmangun, Indonesian Ambassador to China and Mongolia, on the sidelines of the Kagama Leader Forum 2025 discussion recently.

However, he was reluctant to disclose further details of the discussions with Nio.

Upon further investigation, it turns out Nio had already started registering a vehicle with the DJKI (Directorate General of Intellectual Property) in January 2025.
