BAIC is ready to bring their first electric car to Indonesia, the Arcfox T1, which is reportedly making its debut at IIMS 2026.
KatadataOTO – Chinese manufacturer, BAIC is reportedly ready to bring its electric vehicle line to the Indonesian market. Set to challenge the BYD Atto 1, the model is the Arcfox T1.
It should be noted, Arcfox is a special division of BAIC that focuses on electric cars, in collaboration with Huawei.
Currently, BAIC has only brought one electrified line, the BAIC BJ30 Hybrid. The rest are gasoline-powered, namely the BJ40 Plus and X55-II.
Information about the arrival of the BAIC Arcfox T1 was revealed by a BAIC salesperson. According to them, the model will be presented to consumers next year.
“This is the electric car unit, the BAIC Arcfox T1. It will launch at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2025,” said the salesperson when contacted by KatadataOTO recently.
The Arcfox T1 has the potential to be a rival to the BYD Atto 1 and Geely Xingyuan or EX2 in Indonesia. In terms of dimensions, this model is quite compact.
However, its design is more dynamic and gives a larger impression, even resembling a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) Crossover.
For comparison, the L x W x H dimensions of the Arcfox T1 are 4,337 mm x 1,860 mm x 1,572 mm. Meanwhile, the BYD Atto 1 is at 3,925 mm x 1,720 mm x 1,590 mm and the Geely EX2 is 4,135 mm x 1,805 mm x 1,570 mm.
However, there is no information yet on the price of the Arcfox T1. If it competes with the BYD Atto 1 and Geely EX2, then its price range needs to be between IDR 190 million and IDR 300 million.
Speaking of the powertrain, the Arcfox T1 is equipped with a single electric motor with a Lithium Iron Phosphate or LFP battery in two capacity options, 41.7 kWh and 42.3 kWh.
This configuration allows the Arcfox T1 to travel 410 to 425 kilometers on a single full charge.
In its home country, the Arcfox T1 is sold for around 70,000 yuan. This figure is equivalent to around IDR 158.3 million when converted to the rupiah exchange rate.
Previously, BAIC had already revealed plans for Arcfox's presence in Indonesia, although the exact timing is not yet clear.
“The EV Arcfox is under discussion. Whether we bring it in as Arcfox or rebadge it as BAIC will depend on consumer response,” said Dhani Yahya, Chief Operating Officer of BAIC Indonesia in Tangerang some time ago.
