KatadataOTO – BAIC Indonesia has made another new breakthrough. This time, they are collaborating with DEXC Racing Team.

Both parties are preparing to compete in the AXCR (Asia Cross Country Rally) 2026 race. Competing in the international championship, they will rely on the BAIC BJ40 Plus.

The unit will be modified to be competitive in the AXCR 2026.

“We are very proud to participate with the DEXC team, carrying the name of Indonesia. This participation is proof of our product's toughness,” said Dhani Yahya, Chief Operating Officer, BAIC Indonesia in an official broadcast (18/02).

AXCR itself is an FIA-certified cross-country rally competition. The rally race has been held annually in the Southeast Asian region since 1996.

Participants come from a number of countries to compete for the championship title. Making this event even more prestigious in the eyes of many.

For your information, AXCR was initiated by R1 Asia. It is a group of companies and has been known as ORTEV International.

Speaking of the route, the Asia Cross Country Rally traverses various terrains including forests, swamps, river crossings, and mud. In recent years, the types of challenges presented have become increasingly demanding.

This racing event is designed to hone the driving skills, navigation, teamwork, preparation, endurance, and toughness of 4-wheel drive vehicles.

The participants must compete for several days. Then, each will cover a distance of around 2,000 km to 4,500 km.

The AXCR championship is said to have many loyal fans, especially in Asia.

DEXC Racing is a rally team led by Dendy Adisuryo. He has more than 10 years of racing experience.

Dendy will then be accompanied by Hendro Nugroho and Rendra Pradipta. Together, they managed to become the fastest drivers at AXCR 2024.

The modifications to the BAIC BJ40 Plus are said to refer to the Asian-level FIA homologation standards. So it can compete closely with other participants.

DEXC Racing and BAIC Indonesia are said to have received support from various sponsors. Ranging from tire companies, leasing, and many more.

The BAIC BJ40 Plus is said to have participated in the Dakar Rally championship in 2021. At that time, the race was held in Saudi Arabia.
