KatadataOTO – The Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2025 event will be utilized by BYD to launch a new product. The presence of this car is believed to offer a special appeal to electric vehicle customers in the country.
This is because even though they were not fully operational in 2024, their sales figures were very large. They even managed to become the best-selling electric vehicle manufacturer in Indonesia.
“We will launch a new product that can be said to be highly anticipated by consumers in Indonesia. Because the car is very suitable for the market conditions in the country,” said Luther Panjaitan, Head of PR & Government Relations at PT BYD Motor Indonesia this afternoon (04/02).
Although they did not provide details about the product, they showed a silhouette of the vehicle to be launched. From the image, speculation arose that the unit is the Dolphin Mini.
This suspicion is strengthened by the car's registration on the PDKI (Intellectual Property Database) page by BYD Company Limited.
It should be noted that in China, the BYD Dolphin Mini is sold for around Rp 161.5 million. This figure is considered very affordable and is even one of the cheapest electric cars in its home country.
The car is also already on sale in several Southeast Asian countries, particularly in Malaysia. Based on the information we received, the Dolphin Mini is sold for around RM 99,900, approximately Rp 367.7 million.
The BYD Dolphin Mini has dimensions of 3,780 mm in length, 1,715 mm in width, and 1,580 in height. Despite its small size, the manufacturer claims the unit can be used to traverse various terrains.
From the exterior, the BYD Dolphin Mini has a rather unique design, with its headlights having a minimalist impression, making them feel sharper.
Regarding the powertrain, the BYD Dolphin Mini uses a Blade Battery with a capacity of 30 kWh. This amount is sufficient to travel a distance of 300 km on a single charge.
The battery then supplies power to an electric motor capable of producing 73 hp and a peak torque of 135 Nm.
Besides bringing a new product, BYD also confirmed it will offer several attractive promotions at IIMS 2025. Thus, customers will not face any difficulties when placing an order.
