KatadataOTO – The Chinese manufacturer, Changan has entered Indonesia under the Indomobil Group. Their first two models, Changan Lumin and Deepal S07 are confirmed to be assembled locally or Completely Knocked Down (CKD).

Thus, the Changan car units received by consumers will be locally made, utilizing facilities owned by the Indomobil Group.

With incentives for electric cars from the government, consumers also benefit as the prices of both Changan products become more competitive.

“The Local Component Level (TKDN) is already over 40 percent. Yes, we are following the regulations,” said Setiawan Surya, CEO of Changan Indonesia, when met on the sidelines of GJAW 2025 recently.

Therefore, the incentive obtained by Changan is different from the subsidy for imported electric cars currently enjoyed by other Electric Vehicles (EVs) like BYD.

This commitment to local assembly is also expected to increase consumer confidence, especially when considering Changan as a new car option.

He currently emphasizes that Changan is still assessing its production capacity readiness, hoping to meet the demand of consumers in the country.

Besides production, Changan is also focused on preparing a dealer network in various strategic locations to reach many customers.

“In Jakarta, we have just three (dealers), yes, just completed three in MT Haryono, then PIK 1 is under construction and might be finished soon, and then in Bintaro,” said Setiawan.

He revealed there are proposals to expand outlets to Bandung and Bali in the future.

“We want to try to catch up with the timeline so it can be realized,” Setiawan affirmed.
